BODO Créations | When design and heritage go hand in hand
In 2016, Lynda and Yacine, a creative couple of designers based in Algiers, launched BODO Créations as a passion project–born brand. Drawing on Algeria’s rich cultural tapestry, they set out to design leather and canvas goods that go beyond function—each piece a personal canvas of heritage. Today, BODO offers everything from tote bags and satchels to leather accessories and babouches, attracting keen attention for craftsmanship and authenticity.
Crafting Ethno-Contemporary Maroquinerie
At BODO’s core is a deep commitment to local artisanship. The brand taps into locally sourced leather and weaves in traditional Berber motifs, infusing each bag with ancestral identity. Their creations—ranging from business cardholders to backpacks—embrace “haute‑gamme” quality while carrying a timeless artistic narrative .
Brand Building and Community Impact
BODO’s flagship boutique in Bouzareah, Algiers, serves as both showroom and community hub. From here, they serve all 58 wilayas of Algeria, connecting urban and rural clientele via direct home delivery and a strong online presence—Instagram boasts some 30 K followers, showcasing product drops, cultural context, and behind-the-scenes moments.
The Creative Business Cup 2019: A Milestone
A major inflection point came in 2019, when BODO was selected as Algeria’s National Finalist for the Creative Business Cup (CBC). As an official CBC National Finalist, BODO joined a renowned cohort of innovators, gaining crucial validation, exposure, mentoring, and access to international networks. This helped solidify their reputation as creative leaders from North Africa.
Growth, Investment & Recognition
While BODO Créations remains a primarily self-funded, independent venture, years on the market have attracted attention from local cultural bodies, design platforms, and creative incubators. Their CBC 2019 recognition opened doors to mentoring by European experts, albeit no large-scale VC deals. Instead, BODO has leaned into organic growth—leveraging collaborations with Algerian artists, regional distribution, and participation in design fairs.
Today and Ahead
Now with nine years under their belt, BODO continues evolving. Their collections expand—new canvas lines (“Omnibags”), men’s satchels, babouches—and they’ve begun limited international collaborations (e.g. French artist poster “Biskra x BODO” art prints) . Their brand story remains rooted in buy‑local ethos, sustainable sourcing, and cultural pride.
